The goal of Generals Alpha is a full-fledged reimagining of Generals based on OpenRA — preserving the spirit of the original, fixing old problems, and adding new possibilities for multiplayer, campaigns, and modding.

The mod recreates unique factions, their generals, abilities, and superweapons, offering players to relive classic battles, but with improved stability and support for new features.

The game has an updated interface, reworked artificial intelligence, new maps, and expanded editor capabilities. Generals' abilities and unit behavior have become closer to the original Generals and Zero Hour, and the Merge Generals mode allows combining bonuses from different generals in one faction.

Generals Alpha is constantly evolving: bugs are fixed, visual effects are added, balance and network mode are improved. This is one of the best ways to return to the world of Generals, but on a modern engine.

How to install a mod Generals Alpha

  1. Extract the archive to a folder.

  2. Launch the game.

  3. On first launch, you will be offered to download a simplified version required for the game to work, as well as the Generals soundtrack. But if you want the full version, you need to download and mount images of the original games, then click the "Detect Disc or Installation" button. The game will automatically find and install all necessary files from your mounted disc.

    • Later you can return to this game menu via the "Manage Content" button to download missing content. Fortunately, Electronic Arts made Red Alert and Tiberian Dawn free. Images of these games can be downloaded here.

  4. Play!
