Red Alert 2 Reboot Mod is an unofficial sequel to Yuri's Revenge. The mod adds new factions and technologies: the futuristic Zeta Corps, Soviet Terra Protocol, robotic Nexus, and psychic Psychic Corps. Each side is unique: plasma, lasers, viruses, chrono-technologies, each with their own strengths and weaknesses.
Factions
Zeta Corps
An alliance from a dystopian alternative future defeats Nexus but loses to Yuri. They decide to return to the past to fix everything. But something goes wrong, and they end up in this reality. A technological nation built on plasma technologies, lasers, and industrial chrono-technology. They appear in Canada.
Terra Protocol
In a brutal future, the USSR defeats Yuri, but due to the destruction of the Soviet palace (by Nexus's ion cannon) and heavy losses in the war with Nexus, the Soviet state launches nuclear warheads across the planet against the approaching Nexus forces, thereby defeating it. But this causes the planet to begin self-destructing. In desperation, they decide to return to the past and avoid the same mistakes. The Soviets are unconventionally armed. Weapons like Iron Curtain, plasma, lasers, more armor, more firepower, etc. Finding themselves in this reality, they arrive in Ukraine, where they begin their "future."
NEXUS
"I was created to bring order, but as long as there are humans on Earth, there will always be disorder" (hello, Robot Storm mod, the author loved that mod back in the day). Originally an AI created by Albert Einstein to fight Yuri, but then in Egypt, Yuri infects the AI with a virus. After some time, Nexus perceives humans as a colossal threat to the planet and utters its famous phrase, declaring war on all humanity.
Nexus is a separate faction of robots and machines. A strong opponent for Yuri, but that doesn't mean Yuri is powerless. Robots are entirely made of tank armor (terminators are resilient, and they're very difficult to hit with regular infantry — tanks or something more powerful than bullet weapons are needed). They're resistant to radiation, psychic weapons, chaos, viruses. BUT vulnerable to electromagnetic weapons.
Technologies are mixed: from basic machine guns and tank cannons to lasers and plasma systems. Nexus destroys Britain and Korea with a weather storm. And transfers its intelligence to Japan, where it begins building an army, destroying those who resist.
YURI
Yuri has become stronger. Some things have been changed/reworked. In addition to Yuri's usual tricks (chaos, psi, viruses, mutation weapons), something else has appeared. Let's go in order. At the beginning of the game, Yuri's headquarters can choose ONE of the available protocols:
I — Psychic Corps
Based on psychic influence over enemy forces. Mainly chaos, mind control, and electromagnetic weapons (magnetron telekinesis). Led by Yuriko Omega.
II — Genetic Division
Led by Parasite (Yuri's genetic experiment). Based on viruses, genetics, and "cyberization" of living beings.
III — X Protocol
Based on using laser, thermal, and light weapons (no, not Jedi lightsabers), namely — enhanced light streams created from Yuri's minion weapons, burning everything around and sometimes melting everything in their path. The technology is much more powerful than ordinary laser beams. The protocol is experimental and under the leadership of Xakaimon (a symbiote created by Parasite) is being developed on the Moon.
Arab Legion
A nuclear power based on total destruction. Essentially terrorists: trucks loaded with explosives, splitters, etc. A union of Libyans, Arabs, Iraqis, and others into one legion.
Confederation
A quite powerful faction. Good for shelling everything at range: napalm, missile systems. The description doesn't seem very impressive, but in practice it's a powerful, technologically advanced side.
RSFSR (Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic)
An impressive country, but you need to know how to combine units. Tesla technologies and generally heavy industry (heavy armored vehicles or relatively universal equipment).
France
The best country for defense and deception. Stealth technologies, thermal weapons, and howitzers (like the Grand Cannon — how can you go without them?).
Germany
Relies on quick attacks, but it's important to know how to combine units. Chrono-technologies (teleportation, chrono-vortexes, time slowdown, etc.) and large-caliber weapons.
America
Advantage in assault and attack, as well as in aviation. Future technologies (several units from RA3), a couple of units from Generals, and several of their own.
When's the Release?
According to the developers, by the end of 2024 the release is very close, only icons, AI for bots, and several balance adjustments remain. Nevertheless, the exact release date is still unknown.
