Project Brutality is a large-scale gameplay mod for Doom that evolved from Brutal Doom into an independent project. It makes the game even more brutal, adds dozens of new weapons, monster variants, multi-tier progression for enemies and weapons, as well as advanced customization.

The main feature of Project Brutality is its multi-tier progression system (Tiers). As you progress through the campaign, enemies, weapons, and items evolve, becoming more dangerous and diverse. Progression can be either strictly tied to the number of levels or smooth with elements of randomness.
The arsenal is significantly expanded: all classic Doom weapons have been reworked and dozens of new guns, enhancements, and upgrades have been added. Almost every weapon has alternative fire modes, special abilities, upgrades, or the ability to dual-wield. The game features grenades, mines, auxiliary equipment, and demonic artifacts.
Monsters have received numerous variants with new attacks, behaviors, and abilities. Enemies more actively use cover, grenades, charges, ranged and special attacks, and some can temporarily become the player's allies. Bosses and elite enemies pose a serious threat even to a well-equipped Doomguy.
Project Brutality also adds new player abilities: dashes, double jumps, sliding, the ability to grab ledges like in parkour, an expanded melee combat system, and finishers. All of this is accompanied by reworked movement physics, a new HUD, improved effects, tons of blood and body dismemberment, as well as a deep settings system that allows you to adapt the mod to any playstyle — from moderate action to extreme hardcore.
How to install a mod Project Brutality
To run the mod, you will need the GZDoom engine and doom2.wad or FreeDoom as the iwad.
Make sure doom2.wad or freedoom2.wad is located in the GZDoom folder
Move the mod's .pk3 file to the GZDoom folder
Drag and drop the .pk3 file onto gzdoom.exe
Play!
You can also create a Launcher.bat. This is suitable for running more complex mod setups where the loading order of mods matters, or to launch the game via a shortcut.
How to create a launcher for running mods based on GZDoom
Create a text file in the GZDoom folder, you can name it Launcher. The text can look like this, depending on which files you're using:
gzdoom.exe -iwad freedoom2.wad -file "brutalv22test4.pk3"-iwad must always come first, and the number of files after -file can be unlimited — just write them in quotes separated by spaces, like this:
gzdoom.exe -iwad doom2.wad -file "addon1.pk3" "addon2.pk3" "addon3.pk3" "addon4.pk3"Change its format from .txt to .bat by simply renaming it. Now you can launch your mod setups with a double-click on this launcher.
