Half-Life: The Infected offers an exciting return to the world of Black Mesa, with carefully crafted maps that evoke nostalgia for the classic game. From the first minutes, you can feel the quality approach: the opening segment reminds of Blue Shift's atmosphere, while scripted episodes and original NPC voices add to the nostalgia.
The gameplay dynamics are structured so that at the beginning you have to conserve ammunition, and by the middle the campaign becomes more intense: there are more weapons and ammunition, but less health and armor, creating an acute sense of survival.
The level design deserves special praise: it's thought out down to the smallest details, atmospheric and logical. Black Mesa is perceived as a unified whole, where everything - from corridors to environmental details - looks functional and fits into the complex's story.
Nevertheless, the campaign's ending leaves a feeling of incompleteness: it seems abrupt and insufficiently developed. There are also minor flaws, like objects that can sometimes be destroyed and sometimes not, and the plot remains schematic and not always clearly presented.
Overall, Half-Life: The Infected is an ambitious and rich project for fans of classic Half-Life, offering about two and a half hours of engaging gameplay and strong atmosphere, despite some rough edges.
