Half-Life: Extended is a large mod for Half-Life that expands the original campaign by combining content from Blue Shift and Opposing Force, adding new levels, reworking NPCs and maps, and increasing world detail. Half-Life: Extended is an impressive mod for Half-Life that aims to expand and improve the original campaign while preserving its spirit and adding plenty of new content. It integrates materials from Blue Shift and Opposing Force, increasing the variety of weapons and enemies. Now, you can launch maps from these add-ons directly within Half-Life: Extended.
The developers have reworked NPCs: HECU soldiers now have 42 unique variations, and scientists and other characters feature many new appearances. Workers and cooks have been added to the Black Mesa complex, and soldiers now use weapons that were previously only collectible. The old chumtoad has also returned, capable of distracting enemies and luring monsters.
Maps have become significantly larger by merging levels, adding new details, extra rooms, and mandatory areas to explore. The campaign gained new chapters, and familiar locations now offer greater depth and realism. All this makes the gameplay richer and more varied.
Half-Life: Extended is not just an improved original but almost a new game, where Black Mesa feels even more alive and detailed. The mod is in active development and continues to expand, promising players even more content in the future.
How to install a mod Half-Life: Extended
Unpack the archive and move the hl_extended folder to the root directory of the game.
Launch the game, go to the Change game menu, and select the mod.
Or if you have the Steam version: close Steam and restart it. The mod will appear in your games list.
