Tyrian 2000 - an updated version released in 1999 of the classic arcade shooter Tyrian, first introduced in 1995. Unlike many other games of the genre at that time, Tyrian focused not only on dynamic battles, but also on ship development: players could collect credits, buy weapons, change modules and experiment with builds. Tyrian 2000 added a new episode, fixed bugs, improved compatibility with systems that were modern at the time, and made it a kind of "gold edition."
Players received Tyrian 2000 as a worthy reissue. Even then, the game was considered cult among arcade shooter fans thanks to its customization depth, humor, and rich levels. For many, it was this version that cemented Tyrian's status as one of the best representatives of the genre on PC, as it was more freely and conveniently available than the original release.
Today, Tyrian 2000 continues to live thanks to digital distribution - it can be downloaded for free on GOG, and fans ensure compatibility with modern systems and share mods. The game is perceived as a bright example of the golden era of PC shooters that hasn't aged thanks to its unique combination of action and RPG elements.
