Deathmatch Simulator sets itself an unusual goal — recreating the feeling of real online deathmatch in single-player format.
Instead of complex multiplayer setup, servers, and outdated engine forks, the mod offers immediate immersion into chaotic arena battles with AI opponents that behave like real players. The developers ironically claim "100% simulation accuracy," but behind the playful presentation lies genuinely refined and dynamic gameplay.
One of the mod's key features is the bots — not just standard Doom monsters, but full-fledged characters inspired by iconic heroes like Ranger from Quake, Duke Nukem, and even characters from Blood. Unlike classic deathmatch, each has their own behavioral logic and combat style, making battles varied and unpredictable.
The arsenal has also been reworked. Classic Doom weapons received new animations and sprites, and were supplemented with new types of weaponry, including a minigun, grenade launcher, railgun, and flamethrower. The chainsaw deserves special mention, inspired by Quake III Arena and perfectly suited for close combat in arena skirmishes.
The mod includes a set of maps representing both reworked classic deathmatch arenas and original levels. Among them are interpretations of maps from Doom, Blood, Shadow Warrior, Metroid Prime 2, GTA II, and even Counter-Strike. Some arenas are intentionally chaotic and crowded, emphasizing the spirit of frantic multiplayer, while others demonstrate more refined design and reveal the potential of the mod's mechanics.
Gameplay revolves around deathmatch-style survival mode: players must achieve a set number of frags within a time limit, with difficulty, timer, and limits being customizable. With each map, requirements increase, forcing players to constantly adapt.
Despite the absence of alternative modes like Team Deathmatch or Last Man Standing, Deathmatch Simulator remains a vibrant and distinctive project that allows players to experience the spirit of classic Doom multiplayer without going online.

To run the mod, you will need the GZDoom engine and doom.wad, doom2.wad, or one of the FreeDoom IWADs
Make sure that doom.wad / doom2.wad or freedoom1.wad / freedoom2.wad is located in the GZDoom folder
Move the mod's .pk3 file to the GZDoom folder
Drag and drop the .pk3 file onto gzdoom.exe

You can also create a Launcher.bat. This is useful for launching more complex mod builds where the loading order of mods is important, or to launch the game via a shortcut.
How to create a launcher for running mods based on GZDoom
Create a text file in the GZDoom folder, you can name it Launcher. The text can look like this, depending on which files you're using:
gzdoom.exe -iwad freedoom2.wad -file "brutalv22test4.pk3"-iwad must always be first, and the number of files after -file can be unlimited, just write them in quotes separated by spaces, like this:
gzdoom.exe -iwad doom2.wad -file "addon1.pk3" "addon2.pk3" "addon3.pk3" "addon4.pk3"Change its format from .txt to .bat by simply renaming it. Now you can launch your builds with a double-click on this launcher.
