Azure Sheep: Enlightened takes the classic Half-Life Azure Sheep mod and gives it a serious upgrade, blending fresh mechanics with a modernized look and feel.
The system has been overhauled with features like stencil shadows, a Half-Life 2–style weapon lag, and a much cleaner HUD. Weapons feel more dynamic now — their accuracy and performance change when you’re moving, jumping, or crouching. There’s even a Spore Launcher added to the arsenal, while some redundant weapons were trimmed out. Players now start with a Kevlar vest for light protection, and later upgrade to the classic HEV suit for heavy damage absorption.
Maps have been touched up with new lighting, bug fixes, and extra details. There’s even a brand-new lobby map that lets you jump directly into any chapter you want. Training maps got an update too, and some key scenarios — like the Kate rescue mission — were redesigned to feel more polished.
On the enemy side, almost everything has been reworked with LD models, and some NPCs got unique fixed loadouts to stand out more. New monsters and allies also shake things up:
Purple Alien Slaves now charge their attacks much faster and can even revive fallen teammates, making them way more dangerous than before.
Alien Controllers have a new ranged attack and share that same revival ability.
Panther Eyes are tougher, bouncing bullets off their hardened skin unless you hit their weak spots.
Plus, there are new enemies like snipers, shock troopers, and Kate clone zombies to keep players on their toes.
Allies like Barney, Barniel, and Kate also became more helpful — they can carry extra weapons, move faster, and stick closer to the player during fights.
In short, Enlightened isn’t just a touch-up, it’s a big reimagining of Azure Sheep — keeping the spirit of the original while turning it into something that feels much more alive and challenging.
