Brutal Half-Life is a mod that turns the classic Half-Life into a fast-paced action game focused on brutality: dismemberment, lots of blood, new weapons, aiming, and kicking. Models and effects are improved, and maps inspired by iconic shooters have been added.

Main changes and additions:
Graphics and blood physics: every shot has a clear impact - flesh is torn apart, body parts are ripped off, enemies lose limbs and details (glasses, helmets, etc.).
New weapons: realistic additions - M4A1, MP40, USAS-12, Chaingun from Duke 3D, BFG‑9000, rocket launcher and hyper blaster from Quake 1-2, sound gun, dynamite, spray can, MP5/MP40, and more.
Combat mechanics: ADS aiming, the ability to punch with fists/crowbar, kick enemies, physically move objects, and drop magazines on the ground.
New maps: levels from Doom, Quake, Quake II, Duke Nukem 3D, Blood, Soldier of Fortune, Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Indiana Jones, and The Fate of Atlantis have been added.
Improvements to the original campaign: reworked models, sounds, music, effects, environment, and slightly adjusted balance.
How to install a mod Brutal Half-Life
Make sure you have the 25th Anniversary version of the game.
Unpack the archive into a folder and place it in the root directory of the game.
Launch the game, go to the Change game menu, and select the mod.
Play!
To avoid entering the "Change game" menu every time you start the mod, you can:
Option 1: Launch via shortcut
Go to the properties of hl.exe and in the Target field (for example: "D:\Games\Half-Life\hl.exe") add a space and then write -game followed by the name of the mod folder in the game root directory. It should look like this: "D:\Games\Half-Life\hl.exe" -game mod_folder_name
Apply the changes.
Launch the mod using this shortcut.
Option 2: Launch via Steam
Open Steam, click on the "Games" menu > "Add a Non-Steam Game".
Browse to the game folder and select hl.exe.
A shortcut will appear in your library.
Right-click on it, select Properties, and in the "Launch Options" field write the full path to hl.exe (for example: "D:\Steam\steamapps\common\Half-Life\hl.exe") and add -game plus the mod folder name after a space. It should look like this: "D:\Games\Half-Life\hl.exe" -game mod_folder_name
Launch the mod through this Steam shortcut.
