Half-Life: Dark Matter is a single-player campaign for Half-Life that stays as close as possible to the series' canon. In it, you play as a Black Ops operative who gets caught up in the Black Mesa events during the resonance cascade and tries to deal with the chaos.
You play as Kovach, a senior operative of the secret Black Ops unit. His team was sent to Black Mesa after the HECU forces failed, unable to stop the launch of the "Omega" carrier rocket and prevent the disaster.
However, the operation turns into a failure: powerful portal storms ignite in the sky, pulling the squad into the void and throwing them back out. Waking up almost a day later, Kovach discovers that the military has already abandoned the facility, and the only remaining allies are other Black Ops soldiers.
The situation is complicated by the appearance of a new, even more dangerous alien faction. The incident has spiraled out of control, and now the only way out is to join forces with other units and prepare to wipe Black Mesa off the face of the earth forever.
Half-Life: Dark Matter has been in development since 2019, and went through difficult times during the pandemic when some team members left and even part of the source code was lost, but it got back on its feet, and development continues. There will be 3 phases in the game in total, but only the first one is ready. The release date is still unknown, but approximately, it's the 2020s.
