Half-Life: Walter is a story-driven mod in which the player takes on the role of a scientist caught in the middle of the Black Mesa incident during the resonance cascade. Following the disaster, the protagonist becomes one of the survivors and is forced to find a way to escape through the destroyed and dangerous sectors of the complex.

Half-Life: Walter features reworked maps, an updated introductory episode and a second episode, new weapons and enemies, as well as post-incident scenes with a tense atmosphere of survival and horror.

Special attention is given to the post-incident atmosphere: darker and more oppressive spaces, additional bodies of deceased staff members, more pronounced horror elements, zombie sequences, and dimmed lighting. A training level in the form of a shooting range is also planned.
