Half-Life: WAR is a mod for Half-Life where you play as Captain Tony Snyder, a former Navy SEAL, in the secret T.S.O. organization. Your mission is to infiltrate a terrorist headquarters in Poland, gather intelligence, and prevent a threat. The mod offers dynamic combat, stealth elements, and a spy thriller atmosphere.

Half-Life: WAR provides linear, combat-intensive gameplay without complex puzzles or long breaks. Levels are designed to maintain momentum: battles follow one after another, giving practically no opportunity to relax.

Currently, only a short demo version is available, and the fate of the full version remains unknown — the project appears to be abandoned.

How to install a mod Half-Life: WAR

  1. Extract the war_demo folder and place it into the root directory of the game.

  2. Launch the game, go to the Change game menu, and select the mod.

  3. Play!

To avoid entering the "Change game" menu every time you start the mod, you can:

Option 1: Launch via shortcut

  1. Go to the properties of hl.exe and in the Target field (for example: "D:\Games\Half-Life\hl.exe") add a space and then write -game followed by the name of the mod folder in the game root directory. It should look like this: "D:\Games\Half-Life\hl.exe" -game mod_folder_name

  2. Apply the changes.

  3. Launch the mod using this shortcut.

Option 2: Launch via Steam

  1. Open Steam, click on the "Games" menu > "Add a Non-Steam Game".

  2. Browse to the game folder and select hl.exe.

  3. A shortcut will appear in your library.

  4. Right-click on it, select Properties, and in the "Launch Options" field write the full path to hl.exe (for example: "D:\Steam\steamapps\common\Half-Life\hl.exe") and add -game plus the mod folder name after a space. It should look like this: "D:\Games\Half-Life\hl.exe" -game mod_folder
