Opposing Force: Enlightened presents a reworked version of the classic expansion, where the familiar campaign gets new visual design and additional elements. Enhanced lighting, refined effects, and subtitles create an atmosphere close to a Source-level remaster, but with its own style.

The game introduces new enemies, including spore soldiers and reworked assassins, as well as an expanded arsenal. However, due to the abundance of weapons, the balance sometimes feels overloaded, and some mechanics like sprinting or extra rounds in the chamber feel unnecessary or underdeveloped. Certain innovations, like maps with HEV suit fighters or flinching mechanics when hit, are ambiguous: they add variety but sometimes reduce gameplay comfort.

Despite technical rough edges like weapon bugs, shadow issues, or unfinished map details, the project still provides a vibrant experience of replaying Opposing Force, making it visually fresh and rich.

Overall, Enlightened is an ambitious and memorable project worth trying for all Half-Life fans.
