You play as Xonxt, a Vortigaunt worker assigned an important mission: to retrieve a precious crystal stolen from the Xen world. Throughout the story, it becomes clear that you possess unique abilities — you are called a "super-Vortigaunt," more intelligent and powerful than ordinary ones. Gradually, as you move away from the Xen world, you free yourself from the Nihilanth's control and become an independent being.
The Half-Life world is presented from a different perspective: you visit some familiar areas from the original game and Opposing Forces — but everything is presented organically and in a new way.
At your disposal is unique weaponry: electric claws, Hivehand, Chumtoads, Snarks, and Stukabats (flying kamikazes). Some enemies, especially organic ones, restore your health when you attack them — particularly effective when using claws, which greatly facilitates combat.
Xonxt's diary provides reflections and hints, allowing for deeper immersion into Xen's atmosphere. Sometimes it reveals the nature of local flora and fauna, but at times it appears as an explanation-heavy monologue.
The mod is unforgiving of mistakes: difficulties are added by the absence of crosshairs, especially during battles with turrets and tiny enemies, and the Apache helicopter battle can only be completed with perfect accuracy — three hits out of three.
The mod's ending is capable of surprising and making you reconsider what happened in the original game.
