Survive in Catacombs: Relit is an improved version of both parts of the Survive in Catacombs mod, which includes updated lighting, English subtitles, new weapon and monster models, as well as balance improvements.

Weapons

The mod primarily uses weapons from Day of Defeat. The concept of weapon weight is introduced: the more weapons the player has, the slower they will move. Weapons can be dropped. The weapon set includes:

  • Gravity knife

  • Shovel

  • Luger P08

  • KAR-98K with optical sight

  • Thompson Chicago with drum magazine

  • FG-42 with optical sight

  • K43 rifle

  • Panzer Schreck

  • MP-18 submachine gun

  • Double-barrel shotgun

  • Hand grenade

  • TNT

  • Hape grenade (secret)

  • MP44 (secret). Deals more damage and is more accurate than Thompson.

  • Colt Detective Special: 6-shot revolver encountered throughout the second part of the mod. Used by the sheriff and zombie sheriff.

  • Flare gun: burns enemies on contact.

Maps

  • Maps were reworked and received new light sources

  • Some map sections edited to fix bugs.

  • Kill counters added to the screen for areas where they are necessary for progression.

  • Full English language support for maps. Completely new reworked map for the final chapter of SiC 2.

Monsters

  • New Hgrunt enemies

  • Battle with Nihilanth at the castle's peak

New Features

  • Medkits that can be collected and automatically used when you're not in combat. Key and barrel icons are added when picked up.

  • Subtitles added.

How to install a mod Survive in Catacombs: Relit

  1. Extract the sicrelit folder and place it into the root directory of the game.

  2. Launch the game, go to the Change game menu, and select the mod.

  3. Play!

To avoid entering the "Change game" menu every time you start the mod, you can:

Option 1: Launch via shortcut

  1. Go to the properties of hl.exe and in the Target field (for example: "D:\Games\Half-Life\hl.exe") add a space and then write -game followed by the name of the mod folder in the game root directory. It should look like this: "D:\Games\Half-Life\hl.exe" -game mod_folder_name

  2. Apply the changes.

  3. Launch the mod using this shortcut.

Option 2: Launch via Steam

  1. Open Steam, click on the "Games" menu > "Add a Non-Steam Game".

  2. Browse to the game folder and select hl.exe.

  3. A shortcut will appear in your library.

  4. Right-click on it, select Properties, and in the "Launch Options" field write the full path to hl.exe (for example: "D:\Steam\steamapps\common\Half-Life\hl.exe") and add -game plus the mod folder name after a space. It should look like this: "D:\Games\Half-Life\hl.exe" -game mod_folder
