Portal: Epic Edition reimagines the entire campaign by adding a crossover with Half-Life 2: zombies, Combine soldiers, barnacles, and a large number of rocket turrets have all been introduced.

You gain access to weapons from Half-Life (crowbar, shotgun, RPG) as well as the HEV suit, which lets you track your health and move faster. At the same time, the game is intentionally made as difficult as possible — for example, the protagonist can trip over objects, which affects progression.

Two playthroughs are available:

• Standard campaign — reworked original chambers with increased difficulty;

• Epic mode — extreme bonus maps with unconventional mechanics, such as a "traffic light" challenge (movement is only allowed at specific moments, guided by a signal similar to a traffic light) or sections that require exploiting bugs.

The fully reworked battle against GLaDOS deserves special attention — featuring new phases, modules, and tactics.

Portal: Epic Edition is a breath of fresh air of its own kind — the mod offers insane, at times chaotic, yet engaging challenges that are radically different from classic Portal. At the same time, its levels are deliberately designed to frustrate you with sharp difficulty spikes and technical issues. Nevertheless, the mod stands out from others thanks to its concept of maximum hardcore, where even bugs are used as an element of added difficulty.
