RollerCoaster Tycoon 2

RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 is a direct sequel to the famous original game and continues the tradition of tycoon simulators on a grander scale. Developed once again by Chris Sawyer, the second installment offers an updated interface, new rides, scenarios, and expanded creative tools, while retaining the familiar visual style and isometric graphics.

At the time of release, the game was seen more as an enhancement and expansion of the original than a revolution. Its main innovation is a full-fledged park and scenario editor, allowing players to create their own campaigns and share them with others. Parks inspired by real-world Six Flags locations are added, and the coaster-building system becomes more flexible and user-friendly.

Deep visitor behavior simulation, fine-tuned pricing, staff management, and path planning remain central to the experience. Despite visual similarities to the first game, RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 offers significantly more freedom for creativity.

Over time, the game has become especially popular thanks to fan-made improvements. The most important of these is the OpenRCT2 project, which provides an enhanced engine with support for high resolutions, multiplayer, mods, and custom scenarios. Thanks to this, RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 continues to thrive today, serving not just as a game but as a platform for the theme park sim community.
