Disciples 2: Alternative Mod adds new branches of factional units, neutral creatures, items and objects. Many existing units have been reworked and refined. The combat system features new attack mechanics — custom attack zones (entire front row, selected target and random units, 4x4 area and other variants).

The project evolves alongside current versions of mss32 libraries by Mak and Unven, enabling implementation of extended mechanics. The mod includes a significantly improved map editor with the ability to create custom conditions based on Lua scripts.

The visual component is enhanced with quality portraits by artist Svetlana Neroslova, executed in the original style, as well as ported and refined models from isometric cRPGs. The musical accompaniment includes original compositions by PetRUalitY, complementing the original ambients on the global map and in battles, as well as tracks from other parts of the series.

The package includes exclusive maps and campaigns from renowned community content creators. The mod is suitable both for replaying original campaigns and for new scenarios. The map generator is fully compatible with the mod, and maps from the original RotE can be converted to work with Alternative Mod.
