Project Osiris is a remake and reimagining of the Amiga shooter Alien Breed 3D, ported to the GZDoom engine. The original game was a technically impressive attempt to make "their own Doom" on a system poorly suited for FPS: a tiny viewport, huge pixels, and low performance. Nevertheless, Alien Breed 3D was remembered for its unusual water effects for the time, room-over-room architecture, and even textured 3D models.

Project Osiris preserves the spirit of the original but adapts it for modern perception. This is not an exact 1:1 copy—many decisions were deliberately changed to make the game more convenient and playable today, while some changes are dictated by the engine's features and the author's implementation.

The mod fully recreates and adapts all 16 maps from the original game. Graphics, textures, and visual effects have been completely reworked. The interface has been replaced with a new HUD that no longer covers most of the screen as it did on the Amiga.

All original enemies have been recreated with updated graphics and mechanics. There are 5 original weapon types with redrawn sprites, plus a weapon that didn't make it into the original release — the knife. New items have been introduced: armor, small medkits, additional ammunition, and keycards.

Three difficulty levels have been added that change not only the number of enemies but also their behavior and completion conditions. The atmosphere is enhanced by a new soundtrack of 17 compositions written by the author under the pseudonym Null Divisor, as well as numerous new sound effects.

Project Osiris now feels like "that very Alien Breed 3D," but with a modern level of smoothness, convenience, and gameplay comfort — for example, the famous Test Arena Gamma can now be completed with comfortable FPS that Amiga owners could only dream of. Another author is also working on a remake of the second part of the game — Alien Breed 3D 2: The Killing Grounds.
