Super Wolfenstein HD — a free fan remake of Wolfenstein 3D by Free Lives (creators of Broforce), built in 72 hours for the Indies vs PewDiePie game jam in 2014. An absurd and entertaining experiment on the Unity engine.

Super Wolfenstein HD is a reimagining of the classic Wolfenstein 3D by id Software — preserving the original structure but built on an entirely different physics engine.

The key difference from the original is full physics simulation for all objects and characters. Enemies don't simply take damage and drop dead: they stumble, topple over, get stuck in level geometry, and generally behave like a platoon that was handed weapons but never taught how to stay upright. Walls are destructible, debris flies in every direction, and German soldiers frequently manage to shoot up everything around them except the player.

The game has two weapons switchable with keys 1 and 2, and an updated version added a shovel — apparently the one thing the original Wolfenstein 3D was always missing. Ammo runs out, at which point the shovel becomes your primary argument. Dogs are present, and get stuck in walls with equal enthusiasm. The final boss — a figure with machine guns for hands, presumably Hitler — can kill you if you run out of ammunition.

The game is quite short and can be completed in about 10 minutes.
