Half-Life: Source is a remaster of the original Half-Life, released in 2004 by Valve on the new Source engine. It's not a full remake, but rather a technical port that retains the original gameplay, levels, and design, while adding some improvements: more realistic lighting, object physics, ragdoll support, and better compatibility with modern systems.

At launch, many fans expected more extensive changes, but Half-Life: Source remained true to the original and became a convenient version for experiencing the classic on the new engine.

Today, the game serves as a base for modders who need a Half-Life source on the Source engine. Although it hasn't received as many mods as Half-Life 2, it's sometimes used as a foundation for fan projects and visual enhancements. Despite its mixed reputation, Half-Life: Source lives on as a bridge between the original and more modern unofficial remakes like Black Mesa.
