Ionization is a total conversion for Half-Life built on the Xash3D FWGS engine, inspired by PARANOIA. You play as an intelligence agent investigating mysterious events in a post-Soviet closed city called Oktyabrsk, gripped by a sectarian uprising.

Oktyabrsk — once a hub for military and scientific elites — is weathering the decline of the nineties. Soviet legacy is carved up by competing factions: criminals and security forces maintain a fragile coexistence while regional authorities prefer to look the other way. But the classified facility for whose sake the city was built has not been forgotten: a mysterious Ionization tears apart the established order, sectarians seize the streets, and a military mutiny erupts. An intelligence agent must investigate what happened and prevent Pandora's box from opening completely.
The early access version contains the first half of the story campaign, approximately two hours in length. It includes several large-scale locations — a metro, a railway station, factory buildings, a rural highway, a military base, and marshlands — with detailed interiors, scripted scenes, and varied NPCs. The arsenal features original weapons: the Taiga machete, the Berdysh and Gnom pistols, the Kord assault rifle, and the Bekas shotgun.
Version 2.0, currently in active development, will add the urban portion of the game: four districts of Oktyabrsk with more than a dozen streets and approximately 50 buildings — a hospital, school, House of Culture, administrative building, casino, and other structures with accessible interiors. The districts are connected by a network of underground shelter hubs; the final destination is the ionospheric station, the source of all the events. Work is also underway on expanding the available arsenal — over 50 weapons are planned in total, all with original animations. Ionization will also feature physically accurate destructible objects and more than 300 variations of Soviet-era vehicles.
Release is planned for 2026.
How to install a mod Ionization
This is a standalone mod. Simply extract the archive and launch IONIZATION.bat to play.
To install the English texture localization for the story content, extract the contents of the "English" folder into the game's root directory.
