Resident Evil: Cold Blood excellently captures the atmosphere of the original series — high-quality character models, perfectly tuned lighting and music create the tension characteristic of RE. The HUD resembles the first games in the series, and the maps, while not exactly copying locations from the original, retain recognizable features.
The gameplay is built on solving puzzles and achieving goals in the spirit of classic RE, but adapted for Half-Life's first-person perspective. Here you'll encounter familiar enemies — from hunters and giant spiders to regular zombies.
The mod offers an excellent challenge: ammunition is worth its weight in gold, forcing you to conserve and use melee combat against individual enemies. Constant zombie respawning complicates progression and indirectly punishes deaths. However, there are issues — excessive backtracking, slow enemies (which allows exploiting bugs), and respawning at the map's beginning after death can make the playthrough less engaging.
The mod focuses on multiplayer — playing solo is challenging, especially without a character with a flashlight. But with friends, Cold Blood reveals its full potential, offering engaging cooperative gameplay in the spirit of Resident Evil Outbreak.
