Might & Magic Vv: Frax is an add-on for the Might & Magic: Heroes 5.5 mod that improves texture quality and adds new skills, including ultimate ones, as well as perks, creatures, and abilities.

Installation Instructions addon Might & Magic Vv: Frax

  1. Install the Might & Magic: Heroes 5.5 mod

  2. Move the data and UserMODs folders to the root directory of Heroes of Might and Magic V - Tribes of the East

  3. Delete the index.bin file in the data folder if it exists

  4. Choose one translation file (EN | PL | RU) and delete the others

    • The translation file must match your Heroes 5.5 language!

  5. (Optional) Install Reshade to significantly improve visual effects (increases GPU load).

  6. Run MMH55_64.exe from the bin folder

  7. Play!

Reshade Installation

  1. Back up the bin folder in case something goes wrong

  2. Launch the game using MMH55_64.exe, go to "Video & Audio" settings and do the following:

    1. Set image quality to "Very High"

    2. Set anti-aliasing to minimum ("Off")

    3. Set anisotropic filtering to maximum ("8x")

    4. Check "Use HW cursor"

    5. Uncheck "No Eyecandies"

    6. Apply and exit

  3. It is recommended to install ReShade with Vulkan:

    1. Copy the entire reshade-shaders folder to your game's bin folder

    2. Copy files from the Vulkan folder (or DX9 if you're installing the DirectX 9 version) to your game's bin folder.

  4. Run the ReShade installer and configure the program:

    1. Click "Browse" and locate the MMH55_64.exe file, then click "Next"

    2. Select "Vulkan" (or "DX9" if you copied DirectX 9 files), then click "Next"

    3. Click "Browse" and locate the ReShadePreset.ini file, then click "Next"

    4. Just click "Skip"

    5. Click "Finish", ReShade is installed!

Tips:

  • You can toggle ReShade on and off in-game using CTRL+F11.

  • The ReShade settings window opens with CTRL+F12.

  • FPS counter is disabled by default, but can be easily enabled in ReShade settings, in the "Setting" tab at the top.

  • Ambient Occlusion (MXAO) is a heavy shader. If FPS drops too much, open ReShade settings, uncheck "Performance Mode", go to the "MXAO" tab at the bottom and set "Shading Rate" to "Quarter". You can increase FPS even more by setting "Sample Quality" to a lower value.

  • Other shaders (AA and Sharpening) are very lightweight and have virtually no impact on FPS.

Uninstallation:

  • Delete data/Frax.pak in the game folder

  • Delete data/MMH55-Stats1.pak

  • Delete data/index.bin (if it exists)

Warning:

  • Extra Large, Huge and Impossible size maps may crash frequently on some PCs
