Copper is an unofficial Vanilla+ mode for Quake that improves balance, enemy behavior, and the overall feel of the game without adding new content. It refines the original mechanics, makes gameplay deeper and cleaner, while remaining fully compatible with id1 and suitable as a base for other mods.

Installation Instructions mod Copper Quake

  1. You will need a Fitzquake-based engine such as QuakeSpasm or MarkV, but any GLQuake variant will work. Playing with GL_NEAREST texture filtering is recommended.

  2. Move the copper folder to the game's root directory.

  3. Create a shortcut to the executable file and attach it to the object: -game copper

  4. Use this shortcut to launch the Copper mod.

  5. Play!

Note: Launching the game with a different -game prefix or without one, as well as switching to the Copper mod via the console in engines that support it, may carry over unwanted settings from other mods, which can lead to unpredictable results. Just accept it and create a new shortcut.
