The mod represents a massive overhaul of the original game: it's specifically named "The Final Nights" because the authors believe the mod differs so significantly from base Bloodlines that it cannot bear the original name.
It adds seven new playable clans replacing the original ones, and five new disciplines, along with new locations, NPCs, music, and gameplay mechanics.
The new clans—such as Baali (demon worshippers), Assamite (assassin-scholars), Samedi (necromancers), etc.—have unique bonuses, weaknesses, and their own special disciplines like Daimoinon, Obeah, Thanatosis, Serpentis, and Quietus.
For example, a Baali vampire cannot raise humanity above 7, but receives an intelligence bonus; their Daimoinon discipline allows summoning a demon into their own body.
In gameplay mechanics, the mod significantly complicates the player's life. For instance, a blood timer has been introduced—if humanity is low or the "hunger" parameter is high, the character's blood will deplete faster, and the familiar healing method through feeding becomes either impossible or less effective: instead, you'll need to use special abilities (Bloodheal) or blood packs.
Skills that previously might not have been very useful gain weight: the trading skill (Haggle/Barter) affects prices, the "Inspection" skill becomes mandatory for finding hidden items and completing quests.
The economy and progression are also changed: quests usually give less experience and money, training disciplines becomes more expensive, so you can't get everything at once.
The Final Nights is a mod for those who have long completed the original and are looking for a fresh challenge and altered experience: it seriously reworks the mechanics, adds new clans and disciplines, increases difficulty, and requires greater flexibility from the player in character development and approach to the game. However, for those who expected simply an "addition" rather than practically a new game, it may seem too difficult or unpolished in terms of balance or content.
