4x4 Evolution 2 (or 4x4 EVO 2) is an arcade off-road racing simulator released in 2001 as a sequel to 4x4 Evolution, developed by Terminal Reality. The game expanded on the original's concepts, offering a deeper career mode, improved graphics, new locations, and extended support for user-generated content.

Unlike the first game, which focused mainly on racing, 4x4 Evolution 2 introduced an element of exploration: some tracks became full-blown expeditions across vast open environments - with GPS navigation, complex terrain, weather effects, and additional objectives. The career mode became more diverse, featuring missions like artifact hunting, cargo delivery, and extreme off-road challenges. The upgrade and tuning system was further refined, and the number of licensed vehicles and parts significantly increased.

4x4 Evolution 2 took a central place in the modding scene. The game was designed with mod support in mind, and fans quickly embraced the tools for creating new tracks, vehicles, textures, scripts, and "missions" with logic and triggers. Entire mini-campaigns, quest-based maps, arenas, and challenges emerged, expanding the core gameplay.

Thanks to its openness, 4x4 Evolution 2 still lives on among enthusiasts - it continues to receive patches, ports, graphical updates, and new custom vehicles. Some fans are even working on remasters and compatible engines.
