Diablo is a legendary isometric action/RPG released in 1996 by Blizzard North. The game launched one of the most influential series in video game history and set the standard for the hack and slash genre for decades to come.

In Diablo, the player descended into the catacombs beneath the town of Tristram to defeat Diablo. Along the way, they explored randomly generated levels, fought demons, looted hundreds of items, and developed their chosen hero: warrior, rogue, or sorcerer. The game stood out for its dark, oppressive atmosphere, minimalist but powerful storytelling, outstanding music, and incredibly addictive gameplay.

Diablo also made history as one of the first RPGs with full online support via Battle.net, paving the way for cooperative and competitive multiplayer in the genre.

The modding scene for the original Diablo, while not as large as its sequels', still exists. Fans have created enhanced builds, balance tweaks, skill overhauls, and even full-fledged remakes on modern engines. Some projects transform the game into a more challenging, content-rich, and "expanded" experience by adding new levels, classes, and mechanics.

Today, Diablo is more than just a classic - it's a foundational game for an entire genre. It continues to be ported, studied, recreated, and its spirit lives on in hundreds of games and mods inspired by the original.
