DoomKill turns Doom II into an ultra-dynamic boomer shooter in the style of Ultrakill. The mod adapts the key features, aesthetics, 3D models, and mechanics of the main character — the robot V1 — pushing the old engine to run at breakneck speeds.
Key features and combat arsenal
All 5 core weapons (including their blue variants) have been ported into the game, complete with alt-fire modes and flashy charged shots. The weapons work almost exactly as in the original, with minor adaptations for Doom's balance.
Forget classic running. You get dashes that grant temporary invincibility to projectiles, slides for firing on the move, wall jumps and wall-clinging, plus a devastating ground slam that deals damage scaled to the enemy's maximum health.
The Whiplash replaces the classic double-barrel shotgun (SSG), serving both for rapid movement across the arena and for pulling enemies toward you (or yourself toward them).
The mechanical Feedbacker arm lets you parry attacks and deliver lightning-fast melee strikes.
Healing and customization
One of the standout features is the reworked survival system. In addition to the original healing from enemy blood spilled in melee combat, the developer added alternative modes: restoring health strictly from kills (Kill To Heal), or classic health-pack pickups scattered across the map.
In the settings, you can flexibly customize the game: from controls and hotkeys to difficulty level, game triggers, and HUD elements. The project continues to be actively developed, and the author promises even more content and mechanics in the future.
How to install a mod DoomKill UltraHell
To run the mod you will need the UZDoom engine and, as the IWAD, either doom2.wad or the FreeDoom IWAD — freedoom2.wad
Make sure that doom2.wad or freedoom2.wad is located in the UZDoom folder
Move the mod's .pk3 file into the UZDoom folder
Drag and drop the .pk3 file onto uzdoom.exe
Play!
You can also create a Launcher.bat. This is useful for launching more complex mod builds where the loading order of mods is important, or to launch the game via a shortcut.
How to create a launcher for running mods based on GZDoom
Create a text file in the UZDoom folder, you can name it Launcher. The text can look like this, depending on which files you're using:
uzdoom.exe -iwad freedoom2.wad -file "brutalv22test4.pk3"-iwad must always be first, and the number of files after -file can be unlimited, just write them in quotes separated by spaces, like this:
uzdoom.exe -iwad doom2.wad -file "addon1.pk3" "addon2.pk3" "addon3.pk3" "addon4.pk3"Change its format from .txt to .bat by simply renaming it. Now you can launch your builds with a double-click on this launcher.
