Solace Dreams uses dynamic lighting and animated voxels to create a visually striking game on the classic Doom engine. The project is inspired by Dark Souls, Silent Hill, and the PS1-era survival horror aesthetic.
The player controls schoolgirl Yuna, who travels through her classmates' nightmares, trying to save them. Each nightmare is a completely unique space with its own theme and visual style. One moment it might be a grim medieval castle with knights, the next - a neon nightclub filled with cyborgs. This variety of locations makes each chapter unpredictable and memorable.
The game stands out with creative level design and spectacular boss fights that require attention and skill. Visually, the project is considered one of the most impressive among Doom mods - comparable in quality only to Total Chaos.
Solace Dreams includes advanced gameplay mechanics: an experience and leveling system, currency, a shop, and the ability to summon defeated bosses (in the form of classmates) to help in battle. New Game Plus, Boss Rush, and Survival modes are available, ensuring high replayability with a total playthrough time of 2 hours or more.
