OpenRA is an open-source engine that recreates classic RTS games from the Command & Conquer series and Dune 2000. It rewrites the original engine from scratch, supports modern operating systems, online multiplayer, improved graphics and modifications, but requires the original game files for full functionality.

Installation Instructions engine OpenRA

  1. Extract the archive to a folder.

  2. Launch the game.

  3. On first launch, you will be prompted to download a simplified version necessary for the game to work. But if you want the full version with all soundtrack and videos, you need to download and mount images of the original games, then click the "Detect Disc or Installation" button. The game will automatically find and install all necessary files from your mounted disc.

    • Later you can return to this OpenRA menu via the "Manage Content" button to download missing content. Fortunately, Electronic Arts made two of the three OpenRA-supported games free — Red Alert and Tiberian Dawn. Images of these games can be downloaded here.

  4. Play!
