Motherload: An EarthBound-inspired FPS is a total conversion for Doom II that transforms the game into an unusual indie shooter inspired by the Mother / EarthBound series. The mod was created for Mother 3's 16th anniversary and brings to Doom the distinctive atmosphere, style, and ideas of these games.

At the core of Motherload are three massive levels united by a hub world, two bonus levels, and an additional training stage. You can play as two characters — Lucas or Ness, each possessing their own PSI abilities with different properties. The game features a wide variety of enemies — from ghosts and pigmask soldiers to cosmic threats and beast-like monsters. An inventory system is used with additional items and weapons, such as bombs, boost sprays, and bananas. Modern Doom port features are also utilized: jumping, freelook, UDMF map format, six difficulty levels, and alternative routes on levels with secret encounters.
A total of eight main chapters with secret routes and bonus chapters are planned, as well as other features designed to expand the gameplay.
How to install a mod Motherload: An EarthBound-inspired FPS
To run the mod, you will need the GZDoom engine and doom.wad, doom2.wad, or one of the FreeDoom IWADs
Make sure that doom.wad / doom2.wad or freedoom1.wad / freedoom2.wad is located in the GZDoom folder
Move the mod file Motherload.pk3 to the GZDoom folder
Drag and drop the Motherload.pk3 file onto gzdoom.exe with your mouse
(Optional) For achievements to work, move MotherloadAchievements.pk3 to the GZDoom folder, but DO NOT drag this file onto gzdoom.exe, as the game will automatically load it.
Play!
You can also create a Launcher.bat. This is useful for launching more complex mod builds where the loading order of mods is important, or to launch the game via a shortcut.
How to create a launcher for running mods based on GZDoom
Create a text file in the GZDoom folder, you can name it Launcher. The text can look like this, depending on which files you're using:
gzdoom.exe -iwad freedoom2.wad -file "brutalv22test4.pk3"-iwad must always be first, and the number of files after -file can be unlimited, just write them in quotes separated by spaces, like this:
gzdoom.exe -iwad doom2.wad -file "addon1.pk3" "addon2.pk3" "addon3.pk3" "addon4.pk3"Change its format from .txt to .bat by simply renaming it. Now you can launch your builds with a double-click on this launcher.
