Schism is a gameplay mod for Doom based on Brutal Doom, combining magic, melee combat, and firearms. The mod adds new classes, weapons, and enemies, overhauls the balance, and immerses classic Doom in bloody dark fantasy.

The main idea of Schism is to unite the heroes of the worlds of Earth (Doom), Cronos (Hexen), and Pathoris (Heretic) in a unified war against demons. To achieve this, new playable classes have been added to the game, each with their own combat style, weapons, and mechanics.
Classes and Playstyles
UAC Marine
The classic Doomguy, enhanced with new and reworked firearms. His arsenal has been expanded so he feels confident in any combat situation.
Paladin (Brutus from Hexen)
A heavy fighter focused on melee combat. Uses sledgehammers, battle axes, shields, and magical blades, can push enemies back and has increased health. Strong, but requires control and positioning.
Sorcerer (Daedolon from Hexen)
A master of elemental magic, using fire, ice, and lightning. Spells can be amplified, but they're dangerous not only for enemies — a mistake can easily cost you your life. Has teleportation and access to some of the Doomguy's weapons.
Corvus (Heretic)
A reworked Heretic hero with magical and artifact-based arsenal, focused on ranged combat and battlefield control.
All classes can use firearms, but only the marine has full access to them, which maintains balance between magic, melee combat, and the shooter aspect.
Features
Schism doesn't make the player omnipotent. On the contrary:
More dangerous enemies have been added,
Standard enemy behavior has been reworked,
Monster aggression and survivability have been increased,
Damage and resource balance has been changed.
Battles become more intense, requiring tactics and careful choice of weapons and distance.
A combination of FPS, magic, and hardcore melee combat
Unique playable classes instead of a single character
Reworked weapons and Brutal Doom mechanics
Support for Doom, Doom II, Hexen, and Heretic
Challenging but fair gameplay without turning into a power fantasy
Schism is a full-fledged alternative vision of classic id Software games, where magic, metal, and blood converge in one of the most unusual projects based on Doom.
Considering the specifics of Schism, it is recommended to play on these maps, or use Hexen or Heretic .wad files:

How to install a mod Schism
To run the mod, you will need the GZDoom engine and doom.wad, doom2.wad, or one of the FreeDoom IWADs
Make sure that doom.wad / doom2.wad or freedoom1.wad / freedoom2.wad is located in the GZDoom folder
Move the mod and patch .pk3 files to the GZDoom folder
Drag and drop the .pk3 files onto gzdoom.exe with your mouse
Play!
You can also create a Launcher.bat. This is useful for launching more complex mod builds where the loading order of mods is important, or to launch the game via a shortcut.
How to create a launcher for running mods based on GZDoom
Create a text file in the GZDoom folder, you can name it Launcher. The text can look like this, depending on which files you're using:
gzdoom.exe -iwad freedoom2.wad -file "brutalv22test4.pk3"-iwad must always be first, and the number of files after -file can be unlimited, just write them in quotes separated by spaces, like this:
gzdoom.exe -iwad doom2.wad -file "addon1.pk3" "addon2.pk3" "addon3.pk3" "addon4.pk3"Change its format from .txt to .bat by simply renaming it. Now you can launch your builds with a double-click on this launcher.
