Ambermoon

Ambermoon is an ambitious project to restore and modernize the cult 1993 Amiga RPG created by Thalion Software, where you explore a vast fantasy world filled with interesting characters, fierce monsters, and various types of magic. Visit all the islands on the home planet Lyraemion and even travel to two moons, both inhabited by unexpected creatures.

The remake supports higher resolutions and fullscreen mode, adjustable music volume, an optional cheat console, graphical filters, auto-switching, and many other modern enhancements. The interface has become more user-friendly while preserving the original retro atmosphere.

The fan game is built on the open-source Ambermoon.net engine, a rewritten and improved version of the original game code, supporting Windows, Linux, and other modern operating systems. The project targets fans of the original but is also accessible to new players who want to experience a classic European RPG with modern conveniences.

Ambermoon remake is actively developed, open source, and open to community participation. It preserves the famous mix of isometric world map and 3D dungeons, along with the complex role-playing elements that made the original one of the most memorable projects of its time.

Ambermoon Advanced

The game includes both the original remake and the expanded Ambermoon Advanced version, which you can easily switch between in the game menu.

Five episodes are planned:

• Mysteries of the Sea

• Elemental Creatures

• The Green Jewel

• Beneath the Sands

• Different Worlds

Ambermoon Advanced isn’t a completely new game—you’ll still experience Ambermoon as you know it, but with several additions and modifications. For instance, monsters and spells now have elemental attributes, making some monsters immune to certain types of magic. So, there’s no point in casting fireballs at fire dragons or hurling rocks at stone golems. In the second episode, elemental spells will deal increased or decreased damage to specific elemental monsters. Additionally, spell damage scales with your character’s intelligence and level.

Keep in mind that adding new content is a significant task, so don’t expect the entire world to change or every dungeon to hold new secrets. Since Ambermoon Advanced is released episodically, the current updates primarily enhance the early to late game experience on Lyramion. The two moons currently lack new content, but this will be addressed in future episodes.

If you plan to play the episodes in order, it’s recommended to save your progress before leaving Lyramion for the first time.
