Corrosive Eternity is a Quake mod in the form of a massive metal map with a hellish industrial atmosphere and around a thousand enemies. Tense, well-crafted combat and an abundance of power-ups keep the experience dynamic despite the difficulty.

This large-scale map is steeped in a grim industrial-hellish aesthetic, leaning closer to the spirit of Doom than classic Quake, while still maintaining its own coherence and identity. Narrow metal corridors, blood, sacrificial imagery, and demonic symbols create a sense of a living, hostile space that literally bears down on the player.

Despite the sheer number of enemies (roughly a thousand), the map stays compact and well-structured. The combat encounters are thoughtfully designed: enemy waves feel intense but naturally fit the pace of play. Frequent power-up placement makes even the most heated engagements spectacular and kinetic, while standout moments and decisions encourage replay.

The level structure is another strong point — it is packed with secrets and interconnected zones. However, this is also where some of the main issues lie. Platforming often demands excessive precision and feels unjustifiably difficult, while secret-hunting can be unclear due to weak visual cues.

The most contentious element is the hunt for 50 hidden buttons required to unlock an additional section. The concept itself is interesting, but the execution turns the process into a tiresome search. The reward is a sizeable secret area inspired by E1M4, though it does not fully live up to expectations.

Overall, this is an impressive and atmospheric map with intense gameplay and a strong visual style, but burdened by overloaded mechanics and questionable design choices. An excellent pick for fans of challenging, lengthy levels — especially if you focus on the main portion.
