Doom Infinite is an experiment merging classic DOOM with roguelike elements, where familiar IWAD levels become merely a starting point. Maps are constantly warped by random events: new passages open up, traps appear, geometry shifts, and familiar spaces grow unexpected zones and hazards.
The core gameplay consists of an endless run through randomly selected levels. To exit, you must earn points by killing enemies, but the longer you linger, the greater the pressure from the curse system. It gradually increases requirements and complicates survival, turning each level into a race against mounting chaos. This is complemented by artifacts, weapon modifications, and character upgrades that can either strengthen your build or seriously complicate your life.
Between levels, players enter Limbo—a hub with dynamically changing structure, portals, and side challenges. Here you can risk everything for additional rewards, enter mini-arenas, or find secrets, but any wrong decision can end your entire run. The absence of predetermined levels and the oppressive atmosphere amplify the sense of immersion into something dangerous and unpredictable.
Doom Infinite focuses on replayability and tension: random enemy spawns, soul economy, secret zones, and dozens of artifacts create unique situations in every playthrough. This is a mod that constantly breaks familiar patterns and forces adaptation, turning classic DOOM into an endless test of endurance, greed, and survival skills in chaotic conditions.
Keep in mind that Doom Infinite is incompatible with Brutal Doom and virtually any gameplay mods, and generally with most other mods.
How to install a mod Doom Infinite
To run the mod, you will need the GZDoom engine and doom.wad, doom2.wad, or one of the FreeDoom IWADs
Make sure that doom.wad / doom2.wad or freedoom1.wad / freedoom2.wad is located in the GZDoom folder
Move the mod's .pk3 file to the GZDoom folder
Drag and drop the .pk3 file onto gzdoom.exe
Play!
You can also create a Launcher.bat. This is useful for launching more complex mod builds where the loading order of mods is important, or to launch the game via a shortcut.
How to create a launcher for running mods based on GZDoom
Create a text file in the GZDoom folder, you can name it Launcher. The text can look like this, depending on which files you're using:
gzdoom.exe -iwad freedoom2.wad -file "brutalv22test4.pk3"-iwad must always be first, and the number of files after -file can be unlimited, just write them in quotes separated by spaces, like this:
gzdoom.exe -iwad doom2.wad -file "addon1.pk3" "addon2.pk3" "addon3.pk3" "addon4.pk3"Change its format from .txt to .bat by simply renaming it. Now you can launch your builds with a double-click on this launcher.
