American Conquest: Divided Nation is a stand-alone expansion to the real-time strategy American Conquest, developed by GSC Game World and released in 2006. The expansion continues the traditions of the original game and previous add-ons, focusing on new historical conflicts and gameplay enhancements.
The focus is on the American Civil War, presented through detailed campaigns for the North and South, as well as new units, buildings, and tactical features. The game offers over 40 new missions and diverse scenarios, maintaining large-scale battles with thousands of units and a deep economic system.
Divided Nation supports both single-player and multiplayer modes, providing players with a wide range of tactical challenges. Despite similarities with previous parts, the expansion stands out with improved balance and new gameplay mechanics that enhance strategic depth.
The project received mixed reviews: series fans and historical RTS enthusiasts appreciated the detailed campaigns, historical accuracy, and tactical depth. At the same time, critics and some players noted technical issues, outdated graphics, and limited innovations compared to earlier entries. Despite this, thanks to its standalone nature and expanded content, American Conquest: Divided Nation remains an interesting expansion for genre fans and a good entry point for newcomers.
